My Lady Mother got me such a strange book for my birthday ...
She says the book is a lesson, and that it's very priceless, and that she spent all year looking for it for me. So I'm, um, very grateful! Of course I am. I appreciate every last thing that my Lady Mother does for me, and it does look very old and very valuable.
I just ... I just don't really understand it.
It's written in a language that I've never seen before. The alphabet is, um, blocky? But I've seen Ancient Megami, I know that that looks like, and it's not that. There's something ... strange about the letters. I don't know. It's almost like they evoke things in the back of my head, but when I go and try to think of what they may be, I can't remember what I was thinking of. ... that sounds silly, doesn't it? Sorry ...
And the illustrations ... they're so beautiful. I can't imagine having brushwork this delicate. They must have been painted with a five bristle brush and years of work. You can still see the swirls of the inks they used. I've never seen anything so remarkable.
But ...
But there's something about the actual images ... I can't tell what they are, but they sort of make me ... uneasy.
... oh, just look at me! Going on like this to everybody! I've just been so completely wrapped up in it all day yesterday and I just felt I needed to talk about it and hope it gets out of my system! I really did have a wonderful birthday! I still don't feel any older, but I know that I am. It's exciting! I'm definitely not a girl anymore. I'm a woman, now. That's scary, but it's exciting, too.
Um, and thank you to everyone who sent me gifts or well-wishes. Oh! And Your Majesty, thank you so much for the basket of figs! They were so juicy and fresh, and they're not even in season!
